It is always useful for landlords to stay in touch with what tenants are looking for in rental property, and from the rental market. While landlords should have a clear idea on what they want to achieve for their own goals, working with tenants makes sense, as this will ensure they satisfy the needs of their audience.
One of the best things about the rental market is that it is adaptable. The COVID-19 pandemic has created a lot of challenges in the lettings sector, but this is a market has shown itself capable of dealing with challenges as they arise. Therefore, while the use of video technology has been in high demand in recent weeks, it is likely this will remain the case.
Video connectivity will remain in place after lockdown
Landlords should be looking to incorporate the use of video technology into their daily practice. There is a great deal to be said in offering video services and connectivity to existing and prospective tenants.
If you are a landlord who needs to be convinced of the merits of video connectivity and virtual tours, findings from a recent study should provide you with all the encouragement you need.
Some tenants are wary about physical viewings in the current climate
The survey was conducted on behalf of the SpareRoom website, and 54% of respondents suggest they feel confident to view a property as long as sufficient safety measures are in place. 32% of respondents said they are wary of undertaking a physical viewing right now, and they would only do so if they absolutely had to.
The company claims that since lockdown began, the number of video uploads on their site has increased by six times. Director of SpareRoom Matt Hutchinson said; “From our data it’s clear that people are embracing virtual methods to continue searching for properties safely. We’d encourage as many people as possible to upload a video to their ads, especially if it includes the people living in the property.”
Matt continued by saying; “Video is a great way for potential flatmates to find out more about each other and work out whether they click before needing to meet in person. We may well see video remaining a natural part of the way people find rooms and flatmates way beyond the end of social distancing.”
When you consider the amount of people working from home who communicate in this manner, confidence is growing with the use of this style of technology. Landlords should see video tours and virtual viewings as a way to connect with people quickly and effectively.
